Profile

Commissioning and project leadership

I bring senior commissioning, project and site leadership grounded in practical engineering, systems thinking and more than 20 years of international project delivery.

My experience spans offshore, marine, renewable-energy and heavy-industrial projects, covering new builds, upgrades, conversions, systems completion, structured troubleshooting, readiness, start-up and handover.

Career foundation and progression

My route into commissioning began with a practical engineering trade foundation and developed through progressively broader responsibility in workshop supervision, field commissioning, technical authority, project delivery and business operations.

Engineering foundation

A four-year pattern- and tool-making apprenticeship established a practical understanding of materials, tolerances, fabrication, tooling, machinery and precision manufacturing. Subsequent model-making and workshop roles strengthened the connection between design intent, build quality and manufacturability.

Commissioning progression

Responsibility progressed from mechanical and workshop supervision through Commissioning Engineer, Senior Commissioning Engineer and Commissioning Superintendent roles to Commissioning Manager. The work expanded from practical testing and technical problem solving into commissioning strategy, systems completion, execution planning, multidisciplinary coordination and final acceptance.

Project and operational leadership

Later responsibilities included project and site management, overseas delivery, marine and load-out readiness, central commissioning oversight, bid and tender support, post-delivery warranty recovery, and business ownership and technical operations leadership.

Professional focus

My work focuses on the controlled transition from construction completion to operational readiness. This includes defining system boundaries, commissioning strategy, readiness criteria, testing logic, turnover evidence and the sequence needed to move systems safely into service.

I combine project and site leadership with practical technical judgement, coordinating construction, engineering, vendors, clients, Class and operations to resolve readiness gaps, investigate technical problems through structured troubleshooting and maintain control through testing, punch closure and handover.

Across the project lifecycle

My contribution often begins before commissioning execution and continues through final acceptance and post-delivery support, connecting early scope definition with practical readiness, testing and handover.

Planning and definition

At bid and planning stages, I contribute to commissioning scope definition, systems breakdown, execution strategy, man-hour estimation, readiness requirements and operability and maintainability input.

Execution and readiness

During project delivery, I lead or coordinate mechanical completion, pre-commissioning, commissioning, start-up, PSSR, SAT, performance testing, sea trials and the interfaces between construction, engineering, vendors, clients, Class and operations.

Acceptance and recovery

At handover and post-delivery stages, I maintain control of punch closure, turnover evidence, dossiers and final acceptance, and support defect resolution, root cause analysis, vendor mobilisation and warranty recovery where operational reliability is at risk.

How I lead delivery

Complex projects are rarely held back by one technical discipline alone. They depend on clear systems thinking, visible priorities, disciplined interfaces and timely decisions across construction, commissioning and operations.

Create structure

I break broad scopes into defined systems, boundaries, responsibilities, readiness criteria and test sequences so teams can see what is complete, what remains and what is blocking progress.

Make issues actionable

I separate incomplete work, technical defects, documentation gaps and operational constraints, then establish ownership, evidence, priority and closure criteria so problems can be resolved rather than repeatedly discussed.

Maintain alignment

I keep construction, engineering, vendors, clients, Class and operations aligned around the same readiness picture, using clear reporting, controlled escalation and practical field judgement to protect safe and orderly handover.
